BACKGROUND

Richard Dewhurst studied Furniture & Product Design at Kingston University before joining the acclaimed museum and exhibition design practice Land Design Studio. He subsequently worked with internationally renowned designer Ou Baholyodhin, before establishing his own practice specialising in residential design.

His background in furniture and product design continues to influence the way he approaches interiors, with particular attention to proportion, materials, colour, lighting and detail. He has a longstanding interest in architecture and design of all periods and has worked on a diverse range of properties, including numerous listed buildings — from medieval houses to Brutalist apartments in London's Barbican.

Over the course of his career, Richard has undertaken projects in England, New York, Paris, Lebanon, Kuwait and Japan. Today he works primarily in and around Winchester, as well as undertaking projects in London and elsewhere in the UK.

His approach is deliberately personal: each project begins with the character of the building and, equally importantly, the people who live in it. Rather than imposing a particular style, he works closely with clients to create spaces that reflect their individual tastes, needs and way of life.

PUBLISHED WORK

Richard's work has been featured in a wide range of publications, including Architectural Digest (AD), Blueprint, Wallpaper, Elle Decoration, Vogue, The Sunday Times, The Guardian* and The Sunday Telegraph.

His work was also included in Phaidon's Atlas of Interior Design, which brings together 400 of the world's most celebrated interiors from the 1940s to the present day.
